About us:

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts anti-Semitism, hate, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations.  It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO and the OSCE, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe.  The SWC is headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Jerusalem and Buenos Aires.  The Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles, founded in 1993, is the educational arm of the SWC.  Moriah Films is the Center’s two-time Academy Award®-winning film division and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem is scheduled to open in 2024.

About the role:

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is seeking an individual with experience representing elected officials or governmental agencies (Federal, State, or Local).

About you:

Exceptional candidates will possess initiative and the ability to generate project ideas on federal grant opportunities.

This position will report to the Associate Dean and is based in Washington DC.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors and reports on developments within Washington DC relating to antisemitism, Israel, hate crimes, Nazism, the Holocaust, Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (“BDS”), and the Abraham Accords.
• Cultivating and managing relationships with community leaders and local government representatives to familiarize them with the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
• Responsible for advising the Associate Dean, and the Center’s leadership on opportunities to advance the narrative of the Center’s work.
• Taking initiative and having the ability to generate project ideas on federal grant opportunities.
• Schedule meetings as needed with officials or governmental agencies and the Center’s leadership.
• Identify key stakeholders in in Congress, government agencies and NGOs.

Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3-5 years’ experience in representing elected officials or government agencies.
• Deep understanding of global social action programs, with an emphasis on Jewish initiatives.
• Passionate about human rights injustices, hate crimes, community engagement, diversity, inclusion and Holocaust education.
• Personality profile to fit into a safe, inclusive, open and collaborative culture that requires teamwork and significant interaction with employees at all levels.
• Self-driven, strategic, excellent communicator, and comfortable managing multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment where you will get your hands into the details.
