The National Advocacy Center (NAC) operated by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lobbyist/Legislative Analyst. This person will be responsible for working to educate the Good Shepherd Catholic Community on the issues critical to the NAC and will serve as a team member with the NAC staff.
Duties include researching issues, monitoring legislation as it affects NAC’s position, maintaining issue and legislator files, preparing reports, developing resources, and advocating NAC’s position on Capitol Hill. Issues include but are not limited to children/family/women/immigration/peace.
A qualified candidate must know the overall legislative process and be able to track the status of appropriate bills. Familiarity with aides and members of committee and subcommittee staff who are key to NAC’s agenda and issues is critical.
This job requires a background in human services, political science, education, or law and familiarity with Catholic Social Teaching. Experience in lobbying is essential. The person selected must be able to identify with the Sisters of the Good Shepherd philosophy and be able to convey it to appropriate audiences. Computer literacy, good communication skills, ability to work as a team player, flexibility, and self-motivation are key.
